Inside Small Business reports today (28/04/2022) that many Australians have lost confidence in the ability of Big Business and Government to keep their personal data ‘secure and private’. And it’s not just Finance, Healthcare and Government, but also Messaging, Social, Media, Streaming, Gaming and Retail. You can read the online article here: https://insidesmallbusiness.com.au/technology/cyber-security/aussies-wary-about-businesses-ability-to-keep-their-data-safe-and-private
But what is Small Business doing about protecting customer data? Are we doing enough? In fact, are we doing anything? What about Cloud storage, Staff Cybersecurity training, Essential 8 Planning and the myriad of other weaknesses in our digital systems?
And don’t get me started on the easy stuff, either, like Password strength, 2FA and proper backups in case of being hacked.
It seems we can endlessly worry about things (data and privacy) but that doesn’t necessarily translate into action plans. Does that strike a chord with you?
Crikey, now I’m really worried!
